Our
Story

Vintage Pasadena was planted in 2020.

The first Vintage Church was launched in 2011 in Santa Monica by Ger and Lizzie Jones. Since then we’ve grown substantially planting 4 churches across LA including in Malibu and Pasadena. Vintage Church is part of a global network of Churches called HTB which originates in London.

Vintage Pasadena was planted in 2020 after Ben and Laura Chase felt a call to move from the UK, specifically to Pasadena, to help plant a new church. After meeting in a school auditorium (and online), we moved into our current location in downtown Pasadena in April 2022.

Our Values

We are a relaxed and welcoming community, rooted in the unchanging gospel of Jesus Christ, hungering for the in-filling, presence and empowerment of the Holy Spirit, and seeking to love our world in the name of Jesus.

What We
Believe

Apostle's Creed

I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.

Nicene Creed

I believe in one God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible.

And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of the Father before all worlds; God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God; begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father, by whom all things were made.

Who, for us men for our salvation, came down from heaven, and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the virgin Mary, and was made man; and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate; He suffered and was buried; and the third day He rose again, according to the Scriptures; and ascended into heaven, and sits on the right hand of the Father; and He shall come again, with glory, to judge the quick and the dead; whose kingdom shall have no end.

I believe in the Holy Ghost, the Lord and Giver of Life; who proceedeth from the Father and the Son; who with the Father and the Son together is worshipped and glorified; who spoke by the prophets.

I believe one holy catholic and apostolic Church.
I acknowledge one baptism for the remission of sins; and I look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come.

What Does It Mean To Be An Anglican Church?

Anglicans are the third largest Christian denomination in the world. You’ll find Anglican churches in most countries on earth, ranging from 'High Anglican' (think choirs, liturgy, and robes) to 'Low Anglican' (think contemporary worship and emphasis on spiritual gifts).

At Vintage Pasadena we believe it's important to be part of the worldwide Anglican church for 3 main reasons:

Accountability

We believe in accountability, especially within leadership. Pastor Ben has been ordained in the Anglican church after a period of discernment, selection and training. Pastor Ben is also accountable to an Anglican Bishop called Todd Hunter. Our Diocese, C4SO, provides support to our church through training and safeguarding.

Community

We believe that community is important, not only within our own church community, but also with other churches within our denomination and network. As a part of the Vintage Network of Churches we have strong relationships with churches both locally and around the world.

History

At Vintage our services are more on the contemporary and casual end of the Anglican spectrum. However we do value the richness that is found in using particular liturgies that have fueled Christian communities for hundreds of years. You will spot liturgy in our times of prayer, communion and at special seasonal services.

Do I Need To Be An Anglican to Join Vintage?

Not at all! Our community is made up of people from various denominational backgrounds and also none at all. If you have any questions, Pastor Ben is more than happy to talk to you further.
