VKIDS AT HOME SESSION - THE GOOD SAMARITAN
This Vkids at Home session is based on Luke 10:25-37

Find some band aids. Ask the children what do we use band aids for?
In our Bible story today, we are learning about a man who got hurt and someone surprising looked after him.

Who looks after you?
-
What do they do when you’ve hurt yourself?
Find Luke 10:25 in your Bible, follow along while you watch the video.
BIBLE STORY:
Jesus told a story about a man who was on a journey but then was hurt. Then three men who saw a hurt man but only one man stopped to help the hurt man. Let’s find out what happened and why it was surprising to Jesus’ listeners.
Watch this video for the story.

Notes for older children
The Samaritans were a people group in the Bible that lived in the area of Israel following the Assyrian conquest. They had a different way of worshipping and even a different temple to worship in. The Jews did like that they had mixed and inter-married with Assyrians. The Jews looked down on the Samaritans and even would walk on the opposite side of the road.
RESPONSE:
-
How do you think the hurt man felt when the priest and the Levite just walked past?
-
How would you have felt?
What can we do to be a good neighbor?
-
What can sometimes stop us from being a good neighbor? See attached sheet to help us think.
Our Bible story tells us that we are to be kind to everyone even those who don’t like us or aren’t like us. It can be hard to do but Jesus promises to help us to do this.
MEMORY VERSE:
Our memory verse for the next few weeks is:

“EVERYONE WHO HEARS MY WORDS AND OBEYS THEM IS LIKE A WISE MAN WHO BUILT HIS HOUSE ON ROCK. EVERYONE WHO HEARS MY WORDS AND DOES NOT OBEY THEM IS LIKE A FOOLISH MAN WHO BUILT HIS HOUSE ON SAND.”
(MATTHEW 7:24, 26).
Why not learn a sentence at a time. Say each word and have your children repeat it back to you. Our memory verse reminds us that we can become wise by listening to God’s word and doing what is says.
WORSHIP:
Use the VKids Playlist to worship together
PRAYER:
Spend some time praying for those we know who are unwell or lonely at this time. Pray that God would meet with them.
Pray for the wisdom and strength to be a good neighbor
ACTIVITIES:
-
How about acting out the story again. Take turns being the hurt man and the Samartian.
